How Alcohol Drug Test Devices Work
The cheap and disposable alcohol drug tests work in a different way than most alcohol testing devices. When you breathe, the ethyl alcohol which is located in your blood goes directly in through the lung tissues and comes out with your breath. If the test reads ethyl alcohol in the breath sample, the crystals provided will transition to a different color. A positive result of alcohol in the breath will turn the crystal from yellow to blue and if all of the crystals turn colors, it is a sign that there is at least a .1% blood alcohol level. That amount is considered legally impaired almost everywhere.
Alcohol drug tests can also be performed through a urine test kit. The problem with these though is that your urine only displays any showing of alcohol and it cannot give you your blood alcohol level or tell you how far impaired you are. After about 15 minutes of drinking alcohol, it will locate to your blood and then goes through your stomach and then you end up impaired.
The more alcohol that you consume, the further impaired you will become. When alcohol gets into your bloodstream, the metabolizing process begins. After about 1-2 hours the alcohol starts to relocate to your urine. People that drink a lot have to urinate a lot obviously. With all this in mind, you are stuck with the fact that a urine alcohol drug test will only determine the persons drinking hours prior and not how impaired the person is when the test is being taken.
