How Long Drugs Last in Your System

Different drugs can last a different amount of time in your system. Most drugs can just stay in your system for about 2 to 5 days. Marijuana and PCP both have been known for easily being able to stay in your system for 10 to 14 days though. Various sedatives like Valium have the power to stay in your system for around 30 days. All of these drugs could last in your system if a lot is used and they are used regularly.

There is no set amount of time that a drug will last in your system. The amount of time is based on the drug, how much is used, how often you use it, your metabolism, and various factors that have to do with the drug metabolites releasing from your body. While these estimates would make sense for how long the drugs stay in your body in general – your urine, blood, and saliva – it would not be correct for your hair. Hair follicle tests can find most drug traces for up to three months prior to the test of being used.
