Drug Detox at Home

When you are trying to clean yourself from an addiction, you have to figure out if you want to do it by going through drug detox at home or if you want to do it at a drug detox centre. While there are a lot of benefits to doing the drug detox at the treatment centre, a lot of people would prefer to do it at home. Usually it is either the fact that they would feel embarrassed to reach out for help and be with other users or they are not really committed to the drug detox attempt. There are a lot of reasons why a drug detox at home won’t work though.

When you don’t perform a drug detox, the toxins continue to build up and the addiction gets worse. Even if you don’t want to quit the drugs, going to the treatment centre for a week to clean your system out and remove some toxins can make the addiction easier to live with.
A drug detox at home can be very hard. When the craving strikes to get the next fix, it will be really difficult to say no. At a treatment centre, it’s harder to run into town and find a hook up. At home, the withdrawals are unbearable and after lying in bed for a few hours you will probably jump up and find a way to get money and get better. Not necessarily to get high but just not to be sick.

You have to get rid of the toxins in your system and if you even have a little slip when treating yourself at home it will mess things up. At a treatment Centre, you get the mental aspect taken care of as well but at home the only people supporting you (besides your family) are probably people you know from your drug addiction. It is almost impossible for anyone to get better while attempting to succeed at a drug detox at home
