Nicotine Tests in the Workplace

Drug tests are becoming a lot more common in workplaces so that the employer can ensure that all of his or her employees are trustworthy and a good investment. Nicotine tests are not as common but do take place in the workplace in some cases. It would usually be the more severe situations that a nicotine test must be conducted though.

Example Situation
Hypothetically, a coach for a college basketball team might be dedicated to winning at all costs so the coach decides to set a rule that no one on the team can smoke at all. To help make sure that these rules are followed, the coach could use nicotine tests to make sure that everyone on the team is listening. It is true that smoking can modify your skill on the court because you could be out of breath quicker.

Another Example Situation
A worried parent may want to find out what their teenage kids are up to. Smoking, drugs, alcohol, and sex are all things that worry parents a lot when their kids are growing up. By using a nicotine test on their children, they can find out if their kids are smoking or not. Smoking is a habit which no child should pick up. Smoking is very addictive and if a child starts young, quitting may be hard if it is not looked after right away. That is why a nicotine test would work well at home as well.
